Frankfort, IL…. State Representative Margo McDermed (R-Mokena) is hosting her final townhall of the year. The townhall will be focused on education issues and include a presentation on the new school funding formula enacted in August and the new Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) standards. The townhall will be held on November 29th at 6pm at the Frankfort Township Building.
“Illinois’ education system has undergone many changes since I’ve taken office, both at the federal and the state level,” said Rep. McDermed. “One of my main priorities in Springfield has been ensuring a bright future for our next generation. Feedback from parents and educators is vital to getting it done right. I encourage parents, teachers, administrators, and other interested constituents to come and share their concerns and insight.”
In addition to hearing from Rep. McDermed, attendees will be able to hear from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). Representatives from ISBE will present information on the latest issues affecting Illinois schools and will be available for questions.
This is the last of several townhalls Rep. McDermed hosted over the course of the year. Rep. McDermed has made herself available to hear from constituents on all issues, but each townhall has been focused on a particular topic. She previously hosted a transportation townhall in April and a property tax townhall in October.
